FITNESS PROGRAMS at Sonoma F.I.T.
Kettlebell Training for Fitness
Kettlebells are uniquely shaped weights that have been used in Russia for centuries to train athletes for strength, endurance and dynamic flexibility. Now in the U.S., kettlebells are being recognized as one of the most effective tools for "functional fitness training". At Sonoma F.I.T., we focus on the use of kettlebells for fitness (as opposed to the sport of kettlebell lifting). Please refer to our Kettlebell Training page or Kettlebell F.A.Q. page for more information.
Pilates
Pilates is a method of movement and control that was developed by Joseph Pilates for strengthening the muscles of the core (underlying muscles of the abdomen, pelvis area and back). The core is the most important link to the kinetic chain (action path in the body). Pilates training re-establishes the core as the originator of effective movement pathways in the body.
What does this mean to you? It means that the proven method of Pilates can be used to train the body to move in a more functional and efficient manner. This translates to improved posture, relief from many sources of back pain, greater flexibility, enhancements in athletic performance, and a toning of the body that helps to create a long, lean look. Pilates training leads to results for all populations, from highly functioning athletes to participants undergoing rehabilitation from injury.
