| PERSONAL TRAINING at Sonoma F.I.T.
Personal training means "personal". That is what you get when you work with Sandy Young, CPT. Your program is completely individual, as individual as you are. There are no set formulas, just sound professional expertise to guide you in reaching your fitness or athletic performance goals.
Who trains with a personal trainer? All ages, all levels of fitness, all sorts of goals. You may be interested in "getting into shape", coming back after pregnancy, losing weight, enhancing your sport performance, training for an event... or ... The point is your fitness goals are your fitness goals.
If you think you might be interested in working one-on-one with a qualified fitness professional, we invite you to explore the possibility. It is important to find the right "fit" with your personal trainer. That is why we encourage you to set up a complimentary consultation with Sandy Young, CPT to ask questions and better understand how the process would work for you. Phone: 707-939-1114.
In general, your process begins when you provide background information to the trainer. Together you will set goals and expectations, and begin a series of assessments to establish a fitness benchmark and to uncover any muscle imbalances you may have. Your program with your trainer is a process that evolves as you do.

About Sandy Young, CPT
As your personal trainer, I would endeavor to provide the most effective and up-to-date
training methods available. To that end, I keep myself informed of the latest research in fitness, and continually advance my knowledge through professional level courses in fitness and wellness.
My approach to personal training centers on what could be termed "functional" or "integrated" training. What that means is that I rely on movement patterns that are natural to the body. These will be 3-dimensional, compound movements, relying less on isolated, single-plane movements one might experience on a weight machine. Why? Functional movements mimic motor recruitment patterns that are found in everyday life. They are mechanically sound and they strengthen the "kinetic chain" (integrated movement systems of the body). Functional movements have been shown to elicit high neuroendocrine response, a critical component for fitness improvement.
My experience has led me to the total body approach that I use to train clients. Functional training is part of it. I also recognize the importance of training in a variety of modes, stimulating multiple metabolic pathways and cross -training for improvements in cardiovascular and respiratory endurance, strength, flexibility, power, speed, agility, coordination and balance. Balance!–that is my approach.
